About Freya

Freya is an accomplished classical singer based in Oxfordshire. Freya's natural performing ability and flair was discovered at a young age, becoming a proficient all-round musician studying singing, flute, cello and piano. After achieving a 1st class honours degree in Music from York University, she studied singing at the acclaimed Guildhall School of Music and Drama, achieving distinctions for her Masters in both Music and Performance.

 

Since graduating, Freya has built up over 15 years' experience as a professional mezzo soprano. Her excellent musicianship and sight-reading skills have seen her undertake choral and session work at the highest level, including singing with the BBC Singers and Ex Cathedra. She has sung with London Voices on dozens of film and video game soundtracks, including work for Marvel, DC, Disney, Spectre, Interstellar, Jurassic World, The Hobbit, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and The Hunger Games. She has also performed with RSVP Voices on X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, and various TV commercials.

As a concert soloist, Freya has sung around the UK for works including Nuits d’Ete (Berlioz), Christmas Oratorio, St Matthew Passion, St John Passion, B Minor Mass, Magnificat, Cantata 170 (Bach), Messiah, Semele, Israel in Egypt, Dixit Dominus (Handel), Elijah (Mendelssohn), Dream of Gerontius, Sea Pictures (Elgar), Petite Messe Solennelle (Rossini), Gloria, Requiem (Rutter), 9th Symphony (Beethoven), Requiem (Verdi), and Stabat Mater (Dvorak).

On stage, Freya is a versatile performer, with professional roles including Flora and Annina (La traviata), Musetta (La boheme), Fanny Price (Mansfield Park), Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), Principessa (Suor Angelica), 2nd Lady (The Magic Flute), Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro), Amastris (Xerxes), as well as dozens of Gilbert & Sullivan roles.​​
